Making Black Friday Fun For Kids

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — During the Black Friday craziness, most of the focus is on adults getting started on their holiday shopping, so a local mall wanted to make sure kids didn’t feel left out.

Gateway Mall had some special, free activities for little ones Friday, hoping to make the day a little more fun for kids.

As families lined up to see Santa, on one end there was a free hot cocoa decorating station with marshmallows, whipped cream, sprinkles and much more. On the other end, there was a free ornament decorating section.

“It’s their smiles!” says Sara Nicholas, a mall employee helping with the ornament station. She added she wanted kids to have fun and walk away with a good Black Friday memory.

Another treat for the kids, the first 150 children in line to see Santa got a bag filled with holiday goodies.
