On Wednesday, the Lane Preparedness Full Coalition hosted a meeting at the downtown Eugene Library.
Dennis Curtis talked about what happened at the mall on that day and what they’re doing to be better prepared.
Two people died on Dec. 11, 2012 and another was seriously hurt, when a man opened fire in the mall.
Emma Stocker, the former Lane Preparedness Coalition Chair, says knowledge is power.
“The first and best line of defense for anyone is their own knowledge and their own ability to respond. And so we’re hoping that folks learn a little bit here today about what they can do for themselves to protect themselves if it happens to them,” Stocker said.
Two lieutenants with the Eugene Police Department talked about ways you can increase your odds of survival.
