Man Arrested Following Hit-and-Run

6-5 avalonEUGENE, Ore. — What sounded like a plane crash to a west Eugene man, turned out to be a car crashing through his front yard on the 48-hundred block of Avalon St.

He woke up Wednesday night to find his truck, boat, trailer and had been hit.

“Just a ding inside my truck and sent it sideways,” said Larry James. “Hopefully it will drive straight still. My boat trailer’s probably totaled. I don’t know if my boat’s going to leak.”

Eugene police say the suspect, 22-year-old Jared Swoape, kept driving. He ended up ditching the car just down the street.

Officers were able to track down Swoape. He faces numerous charges including criminal mischief and hit-and-run.
