On Sunday morning, a deputy saw flames coming from John Colburn’s house and found him walking down the driveway. The 45-year-old man told the deputy that he started the fire because he wanted a fresh start.
No one was inside the home during the fire, and deputies say Colburn’s mother was inside another nearby residence at the time. Firefighters put out the flames.
Colburn was lodged in the Douglas County Jail for arson and several counts of violating a restraining order for sending several text messages to his ex-wife earlier in the day, the sheriff’s office said.
