Man Arrested for DUII, Arson, Hit & Run

EUGENE, Ore. — Police arrested a Eugene man Thursday night for DUII, arson, hit and run, among other charges.

A woman called officers to Village Avenue Apartments after someone threw a burning object through her window.

Residents put out the fire before leaving the building. They found the suspect 28-year-old Matthew Scott Devinney walking away from the scene drunk.

While Devinney left, police say he hit a parked vehicle with his rental car and then crashed into another vehicle at his apartment parking lot.

Police arrested him at his apartment and lodged him at the Lane County Jail. He’s being held for the following offenses: first-degree arson, unlawful possession of a destructive device, unlawful manufacture of a destructive device, two counts of reckless endangering, second-degree criminal mischief, two counts of hit and run, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, cocaine and MDMA) and DUII.
