Man Arrested for Setting House Fire

VIDA, Ore. — A 19-year-old man is behind bars for allegedly setting a fire in his home early Sunday morning.

Oregon State Police arrived at a home on McKenzie Highway after receiving a call that one of the residents had set a fire in the bathroom.  One of the homeowners was able to extinguish the fire, but suffered minor injuries in the process.

Troopers took Jesse Kelso into custody, but he tried to escape from the police car where they held him.  A struggle followed, and OSP called in Springfield Police officers to aid in the arrest.

Kelso was taken to the Lane County Jail and now faces several charges, including arson and assault.
