Man Arrested in Sex Abuse Investigation

ALBANY, Ore. — Detectives arrested a Sweet Home man Friday in connection with a sexual abuse investigation.

James Butler, 57, was taken into custody around 2:30 p.m. and lodged at the Linn County Jail. He faces charges of Sex Abuse, two counts of Sodomy and Using a Child in Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct.

Police say Butler owned and operated the Academy of Fighting Arts located at 115 SE 2nd Avenue in Albany between the mid to late 1980s through 2000. During the investigation, detectives learned that abuse was reported to have occurred at the business.

Albany Police Detectives believe there could be more victims in the case.
