Man Dies in Police Custody

ROSEBURG, Ore. – A man is dead after police tried taking him into custody using pepper spray and a stun gun Saturday afternoon.

Roseburg Police responded to the Douglas County Courthouse on Saturday, where a man was reportedly jumping on vehicles and causing damage. Police say the man was not cooperative, so officers used a taser and pepper spray on him.

The man then suffered a medical problem, and emergency medical crews were unable to resuscitate him. Police will not release the man’s name until next of kin have been notified. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
