ROSEBURG, Ore. – Roseburg Police responded to a possible drowning Friday afternoon.
Around 4:50 p.m. officers responded to the Templin Beach boat ramp where witnesses say they saw a male come out of the bushes and fall into the river. The man was sitting upright in the water, but several minutes later he was lying on his stomach.
Police say one witnesses started CPR, but they were unable to revive him. Emergency responders from the Roseburg Fire, Paramedics and the Roseburg Police Department arrived on scene and found the man to be unresponsive.
The man was identified as Paul Gene Carroll Jr. Police say there was no evidence of any injury to Carroll and there is no suspicion of foul play.
Officers say it appears that Carroll died of an accidental drowning.
