COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. — Police think a man involved in the death of three children and a woman in Salem was found dead inside his Jeep in Cottage Grove Tuesday morning.
Salem police got some leads that the husband and father of the victims found dead could be in our area, so they asked for assistance from Cottage Grove police.
Officers spotted the red Jeep that Salem detectives were looking for at the Comfort Inn Hotel in Cottage Grove at around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
A man was found dead inside.
Salem police haven’t revealed if the man is the husband and murder suspect.
“The person of interest that we developed as a result of the case up here is affiliated with that vehicle and so because he’s in the vehicle, that’s our belief. But again, we need to process that vehicle and get positive identification,” said Salem Police Spokesperson Lt. Dave Okada.
Investigators think this is a case of domestic-related murder-suicide.
Police haven’t released the names or ages of the people involved.
Detectives don’t think the man has a connection with Cottage Grove.
Hotel managers say this man never checked in at the hotel.
Tape marked off about half of the front parking lot, and those rooms were out of operation Tuesday afternoon.
