Campers say they saw the suspect fire a gun at the fairgrounds after the Beaver football game.
Investigators say he pointed the gun into the air and fired shots and then pointed the gun at his wife and son and started pulling the trigger.
No one was hurt because there were no more bullets in the gun. Police say the suspect was intoxicated at the time.
“Guns and alcohol are not a good mix. And in this case nobody was hurt, thank goodness, but it had the potential of a serious injury,” said Capt. Greg Ridler, Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office arrested 66-year-old Alan Van Dyke early Sunday morning. Van Dyke faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon and for disorderly conduct.
