Man Killed in Shooting, Suspect Arrested


BRIAN IRVING SEARSEUGENE, Ore. — Lane County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a man following a fatal shooting Friday in Eugene.

Brian Sears has been lodged in the Lane County Jail for murder.

Deputies responded to calls of a gunshot wound just after 5:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Ruby Avenue.

When they arrived, deputies say they found a while male on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say they took the shooter, Sears, in for questioning and he was later arrested for murder.

The victim has not yet been identified. Deputies are waiting until his next of kin has been notified.

    There were shots fired in that area on the night of August 2nd…wish the death could have been avoided. Sad times.
