EUGENE, Ore. — A man who sexually abused a foreign exchange student he was hosting won’t spend any more time behind bars. Instead, on Friday morning, a Lane County judge sentenced Ronald Norton to two years on probation for sexual harassment. He also won’t be able to get the charge off his record until 2027.
“It prevents the court from ever sealing those records for the terms that we agreed upon so at least we know for next 13 years or so, someone checking into his background will know about this conviction,” said the prosecutor, Erik Hasselman.
Norton is also required to pay around $600 in restitution and fines.
