Man Rams Police Cars During Pursuit

EUGENE, Ore. — A Eugene police officer is recovering after his patrol car got rammed by an SUV during a chase Thursday morning.

Police say 35-year-old Christopher Beller was driving an SUV. Around 1:30 a.m., police were called to a dispute between two cars in the parking lot of Winco on Barger Drive. They were told one of the suspects involved may have a gun. When officers showed up, they say Beller sped off and led police on a chase.

“The officer attempted to forcibly stop the vehicle. Those attempts were unsuccessful, and during the attempts to do that, the suspect actually rammed one of our police cars, causing minor injury to the officer driving that car,” said Capt. Scott Fellman, Eugene Police Department.

Beller faces charges of assaulting a police officer and delivery and possession of methamphetamine.
