Marcus “Super” Mariota Shines At Oregon Spring Game

EUGENE, Ore. — Redshirt freshman quarterback Marcus Mariota ran for two touchdowns and passed for another, leading his Mighty Oregon squad past the Fighting Ducks in the University of Oregon’s annual Spring Game Saturday at Autzen Stadium.

The crowd of 44,129, an Oregon and Pac-12 record for a spring scrimmage, saw Mighty Oregon jump out to a 38-7 lead at the half. Mariota scored both of his rushing touchdowns before the break, including an 82-yard scamper.

Mariota finished the day 18 of 26 passing for 202 yards and an interception. He also ran for 99 yards on five carries.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Bryan Bennett led the Fighting Ducks, completing 19 of 32 pass attempts for 209 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Both QBs played the entire game for their respective sides.

Redshirt freshman linebacker Tyson Coleman highlighted the defense for Mighty Oregon, returning an interception 38 yards for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter to give his side a 35-7 lead.

At the conclusion of the scrimmage, players presented their game jerseys to active military personnel.

Oregon opens the 2012 season Sept. 3 vs. Arkansas State at Autzen Stadium.
