PHOENIX, Ore. — It was standing room only in the Phoenix High School auditorium as several hundred people attended Matthew David Goodnature’s memorial.
On july 29th, Goodnature was on a break while he was working the launch fire. He decided to go on a walk, and apparently fell.
Investigators found that Goodnature died of a broken neck, and ruled out any foul play.
At the memorial on Saturday, a flag was presented to his family. Friends and family stood in front of the crowded room to talk about the brother, nephew, or friend they had lost. Goodnature was described as a thrill seeker, mature, and was always smiling. Those who worked with him at Pacific Oasis are still having a hard time believing he is gone.
” He was always smiling, always has something nice to say no matter how grubby or dirty your day is. And that was him, and we like having guys like that around, and we will miss him. We will miss him dearly,” said David Karnes.
The Matthew Goodnature Memorial Fund has also been established at Wells Fargo Banks for Goodnature’s family. Anyone can donate to that by visiting any Wells Fargo location and asking about the fund.
