SALEM, Ore. – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says a man was arrested Thursday after a deputy found methamphetamine and a handgun in his vehicle.
Deputies say around 10:30 a.m. Luis Villareal, 34, of Salem, was stopped for a burnt out break lights in the 4000 block of Burntwood Court SE.
When Villareal stopped, both he and the passenger quickly got out of the vehicle and waited for the deputy to approach.
This made Senior Deputy Hickam suspicious and requested to search the vehicle. He found 3/4 of a pound of methamphetamine, $1,000 and a .45 caliber handgun in the vehicle.
Villareal was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm, delivery of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and parole violation. The passenger, Joseph Doan, 60, of Salem, was cited and released for a small amount of methamphetamine found on him during the search.
