Men Lose Home to Fire in Eugene

21st avenue fireEUGENE, Ore. — Firefighters responded to a fire in Eugene overnight Monday, that left two men without a home.

Eugene-Springfield Fire got the call around midnight, for a house fire on the 3800 block of East 21st Avenue.

Investigators say the flames started in the back of the home and engulfed the entire house. They say it took responders longer to put this fire out because of the home’s location.

“Because we have such a poor water supply in this area, it took a little longer to get the fire under control,” said Battalion Chief Dana Burwell. “This is an unincorporated area, and so there’s not really good water supply.”

The Red Cross was on scene to help the two men living in the home. Neither one of them was injured.
