JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — Senator Jeff Merkley stopped by several towns in Western Oregon for a few town hall meetings.
Merkley appeared in Junction City, Sweet Home and Myrtle Creek on Tuesday.
The senator was ready to discuss a number of issues, but the economy took top priority for many people who attended.
“A lot of the comments are the same, and they develop a theme about what people are experiencing on the direct front line of the economy, their frustrations, and therefore can help me shape an agenda which I can advocate that’s really relevant to ordinary citizens,” Merkley said.
When Merkley was elected in 2008, he vowed to hold these town hall meetings every year in each of Oregon’s 36 counties.
