Transient Faces Burglary Charges

MILL CITY, Ore. — A Mill City man arrived home to find a burglar rummaging through his belongings.

Deputies charged Byrum Woodin, a transient from Salem, with several charges, including robbery and assault.

They say the 70-year-old homeowner came home to find his door was forced open.

When he confronted Woodin, he was allegedly knocked down and pepper sprayed.

Deputies later caught Woodin in the bathroom of a laundromat trying to wash off the spray.

It’s dangerous to confront a felon without the means to protect yourself. He’s lucky it didn’t end in a worse situation.
