SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Starting January 2013 minimum wage workers will earn $8.95 an hour, a $0.15 raise from the current rate.
Oregonians voted back in 2002 to raise minimum wage when the Consumer Price Index went up. State officials say the index did increase this year by a small percentage, prompting the rise of minimum wage.
Oregon will still have the second highest minimum wage in the country, behind Washington at $9.04.
