EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon State Police (OSP) and Oregon Department on Transportation (ODOT) are reminding drivers to be ready for heavy traffic on Saturday. Both Oregon State University and the University of Oregon have home football games this weekend; but unlike other weekends, both away teams are from Washington
Oregon State University is set to kick off their game against Washington State at 3:00 p.m. and the University of Oregon will play the University of Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
“Even though the games start at different times over four hours apart, the impact of the increased traffic with football fans from Oregon and Washington may be stretched over a longer period of time affecting Interstate 5 and roads around Eugene and Corvallis,” said Captain Ted Phillips, director of the OSP Patrol Services Division.
OSP estimates an additional 30,000 vehicles on Interstate 5 from Eugene up to Washington and the roads leading into Eugene and Corvallis. They suggest leaving early, remind drivers to stay alert and following driver safety laws.
