Mosquitoes Test Positive for West Nile

TALENT, Ore. — For the first time in five years, mosquitoes are testing positive for West Nile Virus in Southern Oregon. The mosquitoes were found in Talent near the Bear Creek Pathway.

Health officials say the illness can be hard to detect since 80 percent of infected people don’t show any symptoms, but it can cause mild flu-like symptoms. Jackson County Health says they have had only two cases of West Nile Virus detected in humans in the county since 2004.
