LINN COUNTY, Ore. — A crash early Thursday morning on I-5 left two people in serious condition.
Just after midnight, a Geo Tracker traveling southbound on I-5, while towing another car behind it, was hit from behind by a Lexus four-door car going well over the speed limit. The collision forced both cars to roll over before coming to a stop.
The Lexus’ driver, Eduardo Dawson, 23, from Eugene was cited by Oregon State Police for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Assault in the Fourth Degree. The driver of the Geo was Nelson Reyes-Flores, 58, from Richmond, California.
The drivers of both vehicles were transported to area hospitals for treatment and are in serious condition.
The crash occurred near milepost 213, about four miles north of Harrisburg. The freeway was blocked for a short time, but reopened just before 1:30 am.
OSP is continuing the investigation after citing Dawson to appear in Linn County Circuit Court.
