Myrtle Creek Woman Killed in Car Crash

CORVALLIS, Ore. — A three-car crash near Corvallis killed one and seriously injured another Wednesday afternoon. The crash was on Highway 34, about two miles east of Corvallis.

Troopers say Valorie Carrigan, 35, from Blodgett was eastbound in the right lane and attempted to change lanes when she clipped a car driven by Chelsea Duffy, 22, of Myrtle Creek. The collision caused Duffy to lose control, go into oncoming traffic and smash head-on into a Jeep driven by Larry Dodge, 52, of Shedd.

Duffy was pronounced dead at the scene. Dodge went to a Corvallis hospital with serious injuries. Carrigan returned to the scene uninjured where she cooperated with investigating troopers.

This crash is still under investigation. OSP troopers, Corvallis Police Department, Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Corvallis Fire Department and ODOT all assisted at the scene.

The westbound lanes were blocked for about four hours. Traffic was  able to move through in both directions on the opposite side of the highway.
