Mystery Safe Cracked

EUGENE, Ore. — We finally know what was inside that safe that was auctioned off in a school fundraiser last week – nothing.

The radio station that raised enough money to secure the winning bid held an opening party Tuesday night. There were just a few metal tins hidden inside the old safe.

A Eugene man found the locked safe in a Grants Pass home and donated it to the Roosevelt Middle School fundraiser.

Despite the safe’s lack of treasures, the new owners say they hit the jackpot.

“The fun of it was that everybody was intrigued,” All Comedy 1450 Co-Founder Chris Warren said. “Everybody joined in community-wise and raised so much money for the school. That’s what it was all about.”

The radio station raised more than $4,400 for the safe.
