NAACP Holds Memorial Day Barbecue

EUGENE, Ore. — The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Eugene Chapter honored veterans for Memorial Day. The chapter held a barbecue at Washington Park Monday afternoon.

Kids played games and a live DJ was even on hand.

NAACP members say they can relate to veterans’ struggles.

“And it really does have a connection with the African American community and the idea of freedom for African Americans. So Memorial Day is really honoring all the soldiers who fought in those regards,” said Eric Richardson, 1119 Branch President.

The community was also able to learn about the NAACP Eugene Chapter.
