Northwest Christian University teams up with the YMCA each year to host a variety of sports camps for kids and one is kicking off this week.
NCU’s soccer camp starts Monday and any drop-ins are welcome. Luke Jackson’s boys basketball camp starts on July 7th.
The NCU athletic director, Corey Anderson, says summer camps can help kids create good summer memories and also just have fun over the break.
“I want them to learn. I want them to have fun but most importantly, I want them to experience the sport. I want them to experience the sport from our coaches and from our student athletes, so walking out of here at the end of that week, I want them to want to come back. I want them to continue to play that sport,” said Anderson.
Athletic department officials say the camps normally bring anywhere from 200 to 250 kids each summer.
Other camps opening this summer are the high school boys basketball and girls basketball camps.
