Drive down Cal Young Road, and you can’t help but notice it sitting at the intersection with Norkenzie.
It’s not a birdhouse as some have asked the homeowners. They call it the Neighbors’ Exchange Box. Anyone can take or leave something in the box.
Richard Davis, who built the box, says his wife came up with the idea to socialize with neighbors and people walking by. And she’s put more than just books inside.
“She put some dog treats in it. It’s kind of a social experiment. We want to see what it develops into,” Davis said.
Davis says most of the box was built from recycled material bought from BRING recycling.
