New Scam Targets Computer Users

computer keyboardEUGENE, Ore. — Eugene police are advising of an Internet scam.

EPD’s crime prevention unit is receiving information about a new Internet scam where the online entity claims to be a company with the name IT Solutions.

The company contacts the victim and then offers to clean the victim’s computer files in return for a large sum of money that is to be sent to Singapore in the form of check.

Police say if someone asks you for your cash, credit card numbers or other personal information–especially if you don’t know them well–the safest move is to refuse their request and check with the police.
