EUGENE, Ore. — The state will roll out a new way to evaluate teachers, in the 2014-2015 school year. Teachers will be graded based on how children do on state tests.
Teachers would be rated on one of four levels for professional practices, like teacher techniques and giving students feedback. They would also be ranked on increases in standardized test scores and school and district testing.
Most districts won’t factor scores into bonuses, but it may be an issue when a district decides which teachers to retain.
Officials are confident they’ll get the plan approved by the federal government by the May 1 deadline.
