Eugene, Ore.-- Forecasters predict that Tropical Storm Gustav could become a hurricane and make landfall along the Gulf Coast by Monday. The American Red Cross has already started to mobilize volunteers from around the country to assist with recovery efforts. Ten local volunteers from the Oregon Pacific chapter of the Red Cross are already on their way to the gulf coast.

Coincidentally, Friday marks the three-year anniversary of Hurrican Katrina hitting New Orleans. The American Red Cross says it has learned from Katrina and will provide more supplies and utilize better communication with other agencies with Gustav.
