Nine Arrested in Marijuana Raids

ROSEBURG, Ore. — Nine people face criminal charges after the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team conducted several pot busts throughout the county.

Four growing sites were raided and 43 marijuana plants were seized as evidence along with 243 grams of processed weed. Wayne Gordon, Jeffrey Star, Stephen Turner, Danielle Leiby, Darrel Denney, Jason Hubbard, Denise Bettencourt, Theresa Carr, and Andrew Weeks were arrested and face various charges, but they were all released from jail due to overcrowding. Investigators say these cases involve abuses of the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program and that, if convicted, the suspects could lose any medical marijuana privileges they may have.

I, for one, am sick and tired of law enforcement being forced to waste taxpayer dollars on this stuff. We have real crime that needs to be addressed. Violent crime that hurts us all. Please, let’s admit that the War on Drugs is a dismal failure and a major waste of our limited resources!

I agree 100%! Catch the car thieves and burglars instead of wasting your time trying to bust pot heads!
