Deputies say the driver approached the intersection of Tate Road and Highway 99 when the train hit them.
One of the women in the car did go to the hospital to get checked out. Otherwise, there were no injuries reported–rare for a train collision.
“We see crashes that can take the life of a driver or a passenger of a vehicle, so in the grand scheme of things, no injuries or even minor injuries, that’s very good news to us,” said Sgt. Carrie Carver, Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver claims the train didn’t blow its horn when approaching the intersection, but the sheriff’s department is still investigating.
