Nonprofits Holding School Supply Drives

EUGENE, Ore. — St. Vincent de Paul needs your help to get local kids ready for school.

The nonprofit wants to give away 3,000 backpacks full of supplies to homeless and low-income children. That will help get them on the right foot when school starts in a couple weeks.

“We are sorting out backpacks and materials to put in the backpacks, and we’re going to start our assembly line going and start filling the backpacks and start putting them in the boxes for all the children,” said Jeff Strickland, store manager.

You can donate supplies at St. Vincent de Paul stores, Bi-Mart, Capella Market, Jerry’s Home Improvement, Pentagon Federal Credit Union, OnPoint Credit Union, St. Jude Church and the UO Foundation Office.
