EUGENE, Ore. — Local students made a mad dash for charity at the Grocery Outlet on River Road Tuesday morning.
Kids from nearby North Eugene High School had just one minute to grab as many cans of food as they could. It’s all part of Project Give, an annual drive to help needy families. This is the third year that Grocery Outlet has donated the food.
“I’ve been in rough places before, and it’s really awesome to know what high school kids are doing these days to help local families and local communities, especially in their high school,” said North Eugene High School Senior Logan Sexton.
“North Eugene is right next door to me, so I’m more than happy to help them in any way that I can. It’s a great feeling to be a part of that,” said Michael Griego, Grocery Outlet Owner.
The kids grabbed $965 worth of food, just shy of the record which was $1,010.
