Oakland Man Arrested for Sex Abuse

OAKLAND, Ore. — Douglas County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 73-year-old Oakland man on multiple sex abuse charges.

According to the three-week investigation, deputies say Edward Henry Capella was allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 21-year-old woman with Down Syndrome. They say she functions at a grade-school level.

Investigators say Capella had been living for many years with the woman and her mother at her home in Oakland.

Capella was arrested Monday and lodged in the Douglas County jail on 24 counts of first-degree sexual abuse and 12 counts of first-degree sodomy.
