Near ALBANY, Ore. — Oregon State Police say an off-duty Marion County Sheriff’s deputy was killed in a motorcycle crash near Albany Sunday.
It happened ten miles north of Albany in the northbound lanes of I-5 just before 2pm.
Officers say the motorcyclist was trying to stop as traffic in front of him was braking.
The man, 40-year-old Tyler Chapman lost control and fell onto the interstate.
A following vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Minnie Bohall from Creswell reportedly tried to avoid Chapman but ran over him.
Chapman was rushed to the hospital where he died of his injuries. Chapman was off duty at the time and was wearing a helmet.
