Officer-Involved Shooting Justified

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Lane County District Attorney ruled a recent officer-involved shooting justified.

Two weeks ago, Springfield Police responded to calls of an armed and suicidal man.

Police say when they arrived they found 30-year-old Travis Cress with a gun outside his mother’s house. They say when Officer Allan Amundson told Cress to drop the weapon he refused and responded with vulgar language. That’s when investigators say Officer Amundson shot Cress two times as he was walking towards the officers.

The DA reviewed the case and says the use of deadly force was lawful.
