Oil Line Leak Sparked Cruise Ship Fire

(CNN) — A leak in a fuel-oil return line reportedly caused the fire that crippled a Carnival cruise ship.

The U.S. Coast Guard released its preliminary findings Monday on the Carnival Triumph. Investigators say the fuel line was spilling oil onto a hot surface, which caused the flames.

More than 4,000 passengers and crew members were stranded off the coast of Mexico for five days last week.

The U.S. Coast Guard says the investigation will last several months.
