One Killed in McKenzie Motel Fire

McKenzie Motel FireSPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield Police have not yet identified the body of an adult woman found at a structure fire at the McKenzie Motel at 1747 Main Street that happened just before 1 a.m.

The fire was contained to just one room, but that room was fully involved. After the fire was put out, a body was discovered in the bedroom. There were three other persons in the room at the time who were able to escape out a rear window. They were not injured.

The investigation is being conducted by Springfield Police, Springfield Fire Marshal and the Medical Examiner.
