METEOROLOGIST MARISA WOLOSZYN’S FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Another showery day Tuesday, some of the showers pretty heavy at times. Here’s the 12hr rain totals ending at 5 p.m.
- Corvallis: 0.20 inches
- Eugene: 0.70 inches
- Mapleton: 0.40 inches
- Newport: 0.19 inches
- North Bend: 0.21 inches
- Roseburg: 0.09 inches
- Yoncalla: 0.25 inches
Showers and sun breaks will continue for one more day, Wednesday. High temperatures will be a bit warmer in the upper 60s along the coast and mid to upper 70s inland.
Sunny, dry and hot weather will move in Thursday as high pressure builds across the area. The high pressure will remain in place through the weekend and into next week as an Omega Block develops.
An Omega Block, is what it sounds like, a high pressure in between two low pressures giving the shape of the Greek letter omega. The high pressure essentially blocks the movement of the lows and keeps dry and warm weather in an area for a week.
So Thursday through Tuesday will be mostly sunny with high temperatures near 70 along the coast, upper 80s in the valley and foothills, and low 90s in the Umpqua.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
