Online Threat at OSU

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Classes haven’t started yet, but there was already an emergency on the Oregon State University campus Thursday.

Oregon State Police and campus security say they’re investigating an online threat directed toward OSU. They say someone out of state made a comment in a web chat room about taking violent action on campus.

The university sent out an alert message to faculty, staff and students.

While the university can’t say what the threat was specifically, they do say they take it seriously.

“It’s better to be safe, and that’s why we take these steps. Whether it’s inconvenient, safety is our primary concern and not delaying,” said Steve Clark, OSU Relations and Marketing.

The campus remains open during the investigation. Police just ask everyone to report suspicious activity.
