EUGENE, Ore. — Dead Man Walking–the real life story first a book, then an award-winning movie.

The Eugene Opera is now preparing for its production at the Hult Center.

It’s part of a larger city-wide event this month called Prisons, Compassion and Peace, and it will include a visit from Sister Helen Prejean, whose real life inspired the book, Dead Man Walking.

The Pacific Northwest premiere of debut of the opera is Friday, March 15. The cast is led by international artist Janis Kelly, who plays Sister Helen, along Michael Mays.

It is a masterpiece of music, words and emotion.
