Sladden City Park in Eugene was one of the parks affected by city budget cuts.
The bathrooms would have been closed down by now, but volunteers from Opportunity Village get to work every day at dusk, cleaning the bathrooms and water fountains.
Villagers say the park is near Opportunity Village, so they’re able to walk there and rotate duties. They say they want to give back to the city because the city has helped them.
“It makes me feel really good to be able to help other people that may need to use the facilities,” said volunteer Rhonda Harding.
The villagers are cleaning the bathrooms until the end of October.
