Oregon Math SAT Scores Down

SALEM, Ore. — State officials say Oregon saw a drop in math scores on the SAT this year.

The average score is the lowest in the last 12 years.

The Oregon average on the math section of the standardized test was 517, which was four points lower than last year. The highest possible score is 800.

Some experts say the low score is because students are able to get through math by turning in homework and participating in class but not actually mastering and retaining the material.
