EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon ranks 21st in the country in dog bite claims even though it has the 27th largest population.
State Farm says it handled 62 dog bite cases last year.
It says it paid out a total of $900,000 in physical and emotional damages.
One woman for example, was paid $30,000 when she was attacked by a small dog while out on a jog.
“This woman had some physical, but most of it was emotional…Afraid of dogs, not being able to go jogging anymore,” said Eugene State Farm Agent Jeff Krier.
Kreer says 62 percent of dog bite victims are children.
