Oregon Sends Volunteers to Gulf Coast

Two dozen Oregon Red Cross volunteers have been sent to the Gulf Coast to help communities under warning of Hurricane Isaac.

Volunteers will help set up shelters in Florida, as well as evacuation stations in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

The Oregon Pacific Chapter in Eugene sent two volunteers and the Salem chapter sent 10 people.

As of Monday morning, the Red Cross had sent more than 1,500 disaster workers to the Gulf Coast.

If you want to help out the Red Cross, they are asking for donations. Text the “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
