Oregon Teens Finalists in Music Contest

singersEUGENE, Ore. — Two Oregon teens are a step closer to fulfilling their music dreams, but they need your vote to get them in the recording studio.

North Eugene High School junior Emily Baker makes up half the duo K & E Music. The other half is her cousin Kayla Turner, who’s a senior at Ashland High School.

The pair was chosen as finalists in a national music competition two days ago. The winners will get the chance to go to Nashville and record a six-song album at the Dark Horse Institute.

“It’s awesome. I mean, we’ve both had a passion for music for a really long time and just love to communicate through music. And so, having this opportunity is like, it’s like amazing. I don’t even know how to describe it,” Baker said.

The three other finalists had the most votes, but Kayla and Emily were chosen by the judges as the “wild card” finalists.
