Oregon’s Unemployment Rate Up

EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon Employment Department says the state unemployment rate inched up to 8.1 percent in August, which is up from 8 percent in July.

More 150,000 Oregonians are without work and more people are dropping out of the job market altogether.

Oregon’s seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate is 61.4 percent. It’s the lowest the rate has been since the state started tracking it in 1976.
